Its over 40 years since we left Ayrshire for S Africa, so many happy memories of Waterfoot, Dippen and Carradale. Will never find anywhere to match Carradale for a holiday destination no matter how hard we look. The Bakers, Mcleans, Macalpines and Semples were some of the names remembered for their friendship. Bobby Blue and Tibby some of the characters. Thank you for keeping the Goat running |

Dear Sir
I am working on a Film about the communities that fished for the Sharks, I would like to know more about the Factory the was there and anybody who remembers those days, I would also like to use some of those pictures shown. I am a small independent wildlife film maker.
Kind Regards Alan Mildren |

We are really pleased that Grip has a permanent home in Saddell Bay! We visit him every time we come to Carradale. Thanks to the generous person who bought him for us all. Hi Campbell/Liz,on hearing about this was welcomed by most folks, there was a few objections but you cannot please all.Just wonder how long it will stand before the elements take effect.Probably long after we are gone...lol.Cheers JD |

Sadly Ian Thomas Paterson born 4th June, 1940 aged 76 passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday 16th November. Ian used to live in Carradale and although moved to the South of England always loved the beauty of Argyll and the scenery and people of Carradale.
Ian will be very much missed by Ellie and his family. Sad to hear about Ian,our condolences from here in the Dale. |

Hi I am seeking any information on my McMillan family who livid in Lephinbeg/Torrisdale around 1750-1815. My 3 X Great-grandfather was a Lindsay McMillan. He was married to Agnes/Nancy McMillan, they had 6 children born between 1795 & 1811 all in Lephinbeg. The problem I have, is I can't find any B.M.Death certificates for Lindsay McMillan! I do have his name on all his children's B.M.D Documents.

Comments:
Hello, I am currently researching the life of Monica Hutchings, an author who wrote a good deal about Dorset when she lived there but I am interested in her later life when she moved to The Wheel House, Shore Road, Carradale. She would have been known as Monica Baber and married to a Somerset farmer called Lewis Baber and it is my understanding that she drowned and is buried in the graveyard on 16th March 1977. Her last book was written in 1975, Brocky, and was set in the Highlands. This book was dedicated to Margaret Mc Bride, 'who loved dogs and in memory of the original Brocky'
I would be overjoyed if anyone knew her or the circumstances of her death, any snippetts or memories would be most interesting.
Many thanks in advance. |
