I was good friends with John Nicholas and was sad to read about the passing of his sister Sandy. Can you please pass on my condolences and ask him to get in touch with me please? Many thanks,

I just came across this site today and loved looking at all the old photographs. I was at Tigne then Tal Handaq in 1961 - 1962 while my father was based in Malta with the Royal Scots Fusiliers. I was to return to Malta for four months in 1972 whilst serving with the Royal Air Force. Happy days.

Sonia Aldworth writes : It is with great sadness that I inform you of the death of Malcolm Aldworth who will be remembered by the senior pupils who attended Tal Handaq in 1968/69. His brother is Roy Aldworth and Malcolm is my brother-in-law.

Please would you post a message on the Tal Handaq facebook page and the website.
I am happy to communicate with any of our friends who might like to make a donation, in his memory, to the Motor Neurone Disease Association. I can then inform his wife of their name and donation.
Thank you.
Sonia Aldworth nee Orsman

Sorry to hear news of your wife Ian Williams. Hope you did not find going back to our old haunts too difficult. Most of us at Tal Handaq moved around where our parents were posted. I loved Malta the most. The first time when I attended Verdala and the second time Tal Handaq - never to be forgotten days - living in a bubble. The Pit - the guitarist copying Hendrix and playing with his teeth. Would love to make contact with my friends during these times - the Sharpe family and Richard Hoctor.

My brother Bob Satterley had a band called 'The Students' whilst in Tal Handaq. Robin Bowes was on drums, Eddie Reubins on bass guitar & Roger Wilkins on rythm-guitar & vocals. Robin died in a plane crash.

This is to say that Bob passed away last month. He had reverted to his birth name of RJ McMillan

He worked on the oil rigs for most of his working life. RIP

(Admin reply - thank you for letting us know the sad news Margaret. I will let Rog Wilkin know directly).

Hi

Is there anyone on here who attended 1970 - Dec 71? I was in At Vincent house. I was in form 1B then 2A2 ( taken from 2 old school reports). I had Miss Farmer as my Latin teacher, I think it was a Miss Wood for Maths. We lived firstly at Naxaar then on camp at Luqa. I remember Nicola & Alison Gibbs, Pia Dewdney, girl called Morag, surname possibly Beeton, Paul Mower, Ian Trower, Susan & Peter Butzkoy?

(Admin reply - Hello Kay, see also facebook groups mentioned in previous posts below.)

Hi all, does anyone remember the old Metropole Hotel at the bottom of Dingli Street, Sliema. It was on the left going up from the sea front. Not the more recent one which was on the right, further up Dingli Street and is now a block of apartments.

I would very much appreciate a photograph if one is out there somewhere or to see it posted. This is in order to resolve a long running friendly dispute with a very good Maltese friend.!
