I have a copy of the History of the 3rd Infantry Division, edit by Donald Taggart, 1947 and my uncle is listed in the roster as part of the 30th Regiment. Also I have a short family history written by my aunt which states he was assigned to the 3rd Inf. Div. along with photos of him in Tunisia and Sicily.

I also purchased the History of the 30th Infantry Regiment World War II, by Rupert Prohme. These two references are a great source of information. However, I am very interested in identifying a more specific unit assignment for my uncle to say with confidence the campaigns and operations he was involved in.

Would you be able to assist?

Thank you for your service attention to my request.

John McKenna

This is a wonderful website dedicated to the greatest generation.....

I am trying to gather information about my uncle, Frank McKenna, related to his service in WWII.

I have attempted to obtain his DD214 from the archives in St Louis but have been informed that the records were lost in the fire in the 1970s.

I would like some advise as to other places to search to obtain similar information related to his service.

I have his personal information, including dates of service and US Army serial number.

I know my uncle was in the 3rd Infantry Division, 30th Infantry Regiment and served in North Africa and Tunisia. I am trying to get more specific information such as the battalion or company that he served and any campaigns he was involved in.

Thank you for your exemplary data regarding the 3rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, WWII. My Dad's first cousin, Quinto Cassavechia, mechanized infantry served with the division in the Battle of the Anzio Beachhead. I am interested to hear from veterans who knew him in the European Theater of War.

Merci Beaucoup
