My first visit yesterday 22-12-23 since approx 1963 when I camped nearby with a scout troop from Pompey.
Brought back good memories of quite a few old friends long lost touch with.
Great pub, much bigger than last time and now serving good food.

We called into the Royal Oak after a day at Goodwood Revival. I had an excellent steak, chips, mushrooms, tomato and onion rings with a nice real ale. The landlord was super friendly and will definitely call in again and before the next Revival.

First visited this fascinating old pub in 1978, following a recommendation from a friend at work.
My Friday visit found a quiet time, a good opportunity to sample the different beers and a ploughman's lunch.
I'll definitely be back again!

My wife and I call in here 2-3 times a year whilst walking in the beautiful Downs. Always get a cracking greeting from Dave, a fellow Spurs fan. Great beer and good home cooked grub all set in a beautiful location... What more could you want from a good old-fashioned country pub. COYS!!

The Royal Oak is an institution, great beers, wines & food. My late father’s favourite pub, he had so many great anecdotes about Alf Ainger who ran the pub donkeys years ago. In more recent times he always appreciated the warm welcome the current landlord gave him.
