My ancestor is Johann Nicholas Martin the Rev War era
pastor at St Johns Lutheran Church in Charleston. His line
included Maria Martin who worked with Dr Bachmann and John
James Audubon. I have extensive genealogical info on this
Martin line documented back into Germany until 1588.

I have been dimly aware of John Bachman for many years but
he recently came to my attention in connection with the
black oystercatcher. Anyway, I wonder if there is a family
connection. My ancestor Bachmans lived in Phildelphia as
early as the 1740s. Is it possible that Johhn Bachman had
Philadelphia relatives?
