Tyrone Powers was one of the many actors of the days of Hollywood that I can watch over and over again. From the twinkle in his eyes to his dazzling smile, Tyrone Powers captured my heart and many in his movies. He was taken from us early in his career, but left us a legacy. I was 7 years old when had I seen The Mark of Zorro on family classics. I am 42 years old today and I am still a movie fan of Tyrone Power. I had seen all his movies. Tyrone Power was the best looking man and swashbuckler of that time. There isn't any actor who can play zorro or jesse james like him. He was an original. It is great to share his first name. I loved all of his movies and stage work and was fortunate to be his friend. He was even greater in his private life. He has been gone for 53 years now and there is not a day that he is not in my thoughts. I realize that I shall never know another man as extrordinary as he was ! I am also privileged to be a friend of his son. Message Number: 229 - Tuesday, November 15, 2011 14:43:22 CST - United States ![]()
MY PERSONAL TRIBUTE to a man I have lovingly admired for most of my life--TYRONE POWER! Not only was he one of the greatest actors of his time, but he was a hero of WW2; joining the Marines as a private and discharged as Captain, piloting wounded warriors to and from Japanese bases under fire.He remained in the Marine Reserves for the rest of his life. Yes,He passed away much too soon, but he lived to the fullest every day of his short life. He was loved by everyone who met him around the world and his adoring fans will never forget him. May the angels continue to hover over you,TY! Always. Alma Message Number: 228 - Wednesday, November 9, 2011 22:18:58 CST - United States ![]()
It goes without saying that all of his movies were exciting, but The Mississippi Gambler had it all. Style, grace, ups/downs, and Tyrone eventually gets the girl. You would be hard pressed to find a movie with greater dialogue, particularly Tyrone's exchange with Piper Laurie at the Governor's Ball. I'll never forget Ms. Laurie's screen name......Angelique Dureau. A beautiful name for a stunning actress. Her father in the film was played by Paul Cavanaugh, a class actor if there ever was one. Unfortunately, this film has not been released on DVD for some unfathomable reason. An elegant classic! Check it out next time it is broadcast.
