I remember that male teachers were so hard to get, that we had a Miss Priest for the first term I was there. I was in Pitt B and Ben Clode was my tutor set master. He had just been demobbed and taught German (second year) He regaled us with stories about his war and taught us German songs (Wenn die soldaten durch die stadt marschieren) Well it is nearly 80 years ago, and I am 88 years old now. I don't suppose there are many of my contemporaries left now, but is there are you can always give me a ring 01797361803 or email me. PS Allan Carr was in my form but he is dead now. (I never started smoking)

When I left Wandsworth I took up a position on a private estate in Scotland and studied Forestry. Best memories are of being in the 1st V111 under coach Nigel Spearing. Did the Props for school Production of Billy Liar. Recall the very cold water in school swimming pool and the fire alarms that were set off. Went cross country running in first year near Kingston Bypass.

My name is Peter Owen, I attended Wandsworth Comprehensive school from 1957 to 1964 leaving after the 6th form at 18 years old. I got a job in a structural engineering office as a trainee and attended Brixton School of Building one day a week and two nights, leading to me becoming a Structural Engineer ( Chartered Engineer, Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, U K). I have spent most of my life working overseas ( Greece, Bahrain, USA) and currently I am retired living in Florence, Oregon.
Looking through some of the photographs from 1963/4 from Ray Ship "the class trip to Greenwich " which I also have a copy of. I am standing in the second row second from the far left in a rain coat. I think the teacher standing at the back in glasses was from Austria, but I cannot be sure or remember his name. Also in the "basketball" team picture I am number 9!
