Comments:
My Father, Nick Bishop was at Wandsworth School
during the late 1950's, leaving in 1958. He was a
member of the fencing team, and went on to Latista
fencing club. Sadly he passed away on 3rd October
2011. I was delighted to find him in the photograph
of prefects(1957-58). Pleased to say that his
grandsons have continued the fencing tradition.

When were you at Wandsworth School?:  I wasn't but I am looking for someone who was in the 1960s
Were you in the choir?:  no
Were you a fencer?:  no
Comments:
Back in the 1960s one of the Wandsworth School teachers, John Vockings, was a local archaeologist digging in Putney. I started digging with the group in 1966 just before he left. He features in the Wandsworth Historical Society archaeological archives. There are very few people left from those early days. I would very much like to get in contact with John Vockings if possible. Our archaeology group celebrates 50 years next year. Can any one help? Thank you.

I was only at Wandsworth for 1 term and then my family moved a
long way from the area. I was born in Wimbledon and lived in
Roehampton so going to school was a bit of an adventure for an
11 year old - bus and tube journey so was fun. I was in Graham
Day's class and was in Handel’s Messiah concert in December
1973 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (Russell Burgess), which I
enjoyed, my voice was never the same again after it broke!
Remembered the cross-country running sessions at the grounds
alongside the A3 and the snack bar if you opted out of school
dinners with the hot dogs and biscuits fir lunch. I was one of the
pupils that drank some of the diluted bleach that the school
dinner staff mistook for lemonade - how times have changed,
there would be uproar now if that happened today. I was only
there a short time but loved my time there and shame it was just
so short. I was saddened to see too that Wandsworth had closed
so thanks for putting this site up.

Its been a couple of years since looking at the site. Good job keeping it up. Thank you. I have been reading the comments from other ex-pupils and I guess I have to agree that it was not the school that failed but society and us (or should I say myself). The school had just changed to allow such riff raff as myself from Roehampton Council Estate to join this elite establishment of learning. Well I enjoyed Cross Country Running although I did not win anything, a kid by the name of Slocome (probably not spellt correctly) would always come in first, Fencing which I took to like a duck in water and then of course Athletics (again running). Anyhting to do with academics was absolutely horror! Well if any of you remember me (not that I think you would as I was and still am of no notable importance) please feel free to drop an email. I am now living in Arizona USA and loving every moment. So bottom line memories of Wandsworth more like nightmares. Sad! :-(
