Guestbook for Tanya's website

When I first began this website soon after Tanyas death, at the request of a friend of hers, I was rather anxious about it. I feared that somehow it might be abused and that perhaps some visitors might not be very considerate. As it happened, I came to really value it and the messages left on it. As a result, now that guestbook has also passed on, I have finally started this new one. Please feel free to leave a message. Those of us who knew Tanya really enjoy reading them. Hello Val Burr, You will remember me as samram, back in early 21 century. I am at this time in Palmerston North; and want to catch up, I have visited your beautiful daughter; sadden by her tragic death and am wanting to talk to you as you and I have some links to do with our children. Referring to all four of mine; Max Tarr know's a hell a lot more about the disappearance of M. McCann and so does Ross Mills and Simone Barker; can you and I put our heads together over a coffee!? Its been a very strange & very tragic week. (1) Last Wednesday, Kieran wrote off my much loved 1991 Toyota Corona car about 500 metre from home. (2) The toaster snagged & almost burnt the house down on Sunday. (3) Today I was shocked to learn that Tanya's very first best friend, Trudi-Ann Crooks died yesterday. & (4) Tomorrow would have been Tanya's 30th birthday. :-( :-( :-(

i new tanya for a little yil ,we worked in the nersarys together ,but in that small time she really left an inpresion on me,she was so loving an careing ,it was like i had been touched by an angel.she use to pik me up for work an everyday was like a dream,we would sit in the pine feilds an chat for ages ,id never wanna finish work,an her voice ,what i would give just to hear it again.i miss u so much tanya

Just drifted in to read the poem I wrote about Tanya's death a few months after she was killed. It still moves me greatly as I take in every word. One day I'd like to read it out loud in some appropriate venue. I always start to come apart in the section taken from the point of view of her cats. I think about the wonderful help given by the Rotorua SPCA, Emma and of course Anita.

I just realised that today is 30 years since I moved into this house. I was five months pregnant with Tanya at the time. I bought this house after my relationship with Tanya's father ended (well, one of the times it ended!), and so the memories include kids' height marks on the laundry door, hair dye on the carpet, where her coffin sat and all the changes since her death :-(

I was just having an emotional moment reading the poem I wrote about Tanya's death in 2003. I noted the bit about Tanya learning to drive in a strange and very rushed way back when she was 19. Kieran (now 20) finally - reluctantly - got his restricted licence two days ago, despite having a car available to drive since Tanya's death (though he was too young then). He has driven the Integra, but for the time being he can stick with our trusty diesel Toyota Corona.

Dear Val Burr: I came upon Tanya's site by happenstance, if such a thing as happenstance truly exists. Immediately I was reminded of another Tanya, the Grand Duchess Tatiana "Tanya" Romanov, who met with a violent death at the age of 21 in 1918. Your beloved Tanya Burr resembles the Russian princess. Your tribute to Tanya is wonderful.

Hey Tanya,
Gee it has been quite a long time now. I remember when your murder came up in the news and I was upset and scared to hear about it. To me (at 16) you seemed way older than me, but now today when I read this page (and im older than 21 now ofcourse) it makes me feel extra sad that you never got to grow older. You were obviously doing very well for yourself, independent 21 and ambitious and Im so sad that this happened to you.
Im so happy that you got to go on that contiki trip and really hope you had a great time.
Much sympathy to you and your family and friends.
