Name your ICAS artist`s of the week ?: Gabriel Ellison
Your Country or Town: Brighton
Your art comments: Spirit of Zambia caught in painting
Comments:
I was a riding pupil of Gabriel's for some three years, prior to getting my first (rather large!) pony, in Lusaka, in the 1950s. I took several lessons from her at her home in painting, too, without ever going on to try and cultivate whatever slender gift I might've had. (To my regret.) I do still sketch a wee bit, freehand, but I wasn't very good at obeying the constraints of form or colour - not that that matters now!
Would love to say 'hallo' again to Gabriel and to come up to London to see any exhibitions, including those of other Vilas artists. Thank you.
