Hi, I am Juan Pablo from Ecuador, today (01-29-2012) I just saw a short documentary about Rell Kapolioka'ehukai.
It reminded me the beauty and magic of a simple life... Simplicity that nowadays is very difficult to find because it is hidden behind things like: advertising, technology, consumerism and more...
Thank You Rell

Thank you, our children were blessed with the opportunity to visit Makaha and surf with your keiki in the 2011 Rell Sunn Menehune competition. We are privileged to have a relationship with the Moore Family, they continue to inspire us to achieve what was once thought out of our reach.
We now hold on dearly to the memories of Makaha’s sun caressing our skin to its potential ripeness, back home we proudly displayed our sun kissed skin as evidence of our epic journey. The parents pride in the feats of young keiki pushing their own boundaries. The screams of joy, laughter and appreciation from the families who’s children unknowing help us strip back our layers of social restraint and relearn simple unreserved joy.
The queen of Makaha or untie Rell to the locals, continues to be a gift to us all who are still discovering her true mana through what is written and her legacy. Some people carry gifts of hope, love and a belief that we all can make a difference. From the families of Waitara Aotearoa. Tena k

I still remember the first time I saw Rell. It was in an interview in a film called the Liquid Stage maybe in 1992. She gave off such peace and welcome and it has stayed with me since then. Her grace and Aloha was one of the reasons I moved to Hawaii for a short time in 1999. Thank you Rell. I have been trying to spread that grace and peace since then. sincerely, Jeff Soderbergh

Aloha Jan & 'Ohana:
Your name appeared on Linkedin (Surfrider Foundation) and I immediately knew that you are Rell's daughter. I wanted to connect with you, but I don't have your e-mail address.
Just wanted to share that I have such fond memories of your mother. (I worked at KCCN 1420 AM back in the late 80's.) As you know, Rell had the "ho'okipa & aloha"--a way of making everyone feel welcome and special. She was a beautiful soul, always smiling, encouraging others and most of all "sharing the TRUE Aloha Spirit"--HAWAIIAN STYLE!
She'd call in with her surf report and more. Braddah Iz would also call in and make us laugh with his "kolohe" ways. Hawai'i Nei truly misses them, but I know that their spirit lives on.
Mahalo for continuing your mother's great legacy and honoring her memory for all to share. Aloha Ke Akua.
Me Ke Aloha Nui, Nani Palacio

Bless you and your organization! I buried my "big sister" in 1996. She died of breast cancer. She was 49 years old. At 60, I am now 11 years older than my treasured "big sister". That's not right. She was also my best friend...
Love, Jack Jorgensen
