At least one of my ancestors (possibly two) died in the battle of Stalingrad. It's interesting to see how seriously modern Volgograd takes the memory of that historic event.

my friend and I visited Volgograd a couple of weeks ago. We came to see the notable sights of the battle. This was a really interesting trip. I particularly liked the museum. The people we met were helpful, taxi drivers especially and our hotel was good. I'm glad we took the trouble to venture so far south in Russia.

The Volgograd region has an interesting history. I plan to visit the city to experience it at first hand. My mother and step father visited the old Soviet Union twice as guests of the government and travelled extensively. they were both absolutely impressed by what they saw. Now it is my turn to be impressed. I plan to visit next year.
