I was sorry to read another member of my era had passed away, his youth was similar to mine, I to pushed a loaded butchers bike and did a paper round to earn a few bob. I discovered this web site because my niece is moving to Battle from Braughing in Hertfordshire, from one lovely area to another, I was stationed on an AA site at Penvensy during the Blitz and watched helplessly as the German bombers in their hundreds passed over head, to our home town, we were all Londoners, our gun could not reach that height.

What a shock when I saw the message on the site about Ivors death. We corresponded in the early days about our sites...being that we were two old codgers and when I started a webring for seniors Ivor was the first to join. R.I.P Ivor

I was so sorry to hear your sad news. I was able to bring Ivor to the old Battle Cinema when the Rotary Club held two charity film shows there and he was able to visit the projection box.
