Hello, great site Tim. I stumbled across it whilst researching my Travers family history. It turns out I'm a direct descendant of the Travers featured in the Travers Epitaph. I would like to get in touch with Ronald Travis if possible. Many thanks and keep up the good work! Martin Travers

Wondering if you were related to Reginald (Reg) White. In the 1960s he lived at the Old Schoolhouse at the Pound in Ashburnham. He was married to my mother's first cousin Doris Creasey.

I was recently shown a copy of your picture of James Morgan outside the powder mill. I believe he is my grandmothers grandfather or greatgrandfather. My branch of the family are Morgans from Hereford. Do you have any more information about James Morgan? I want to thank you for putting up the photo and making this site. It was very interesting. Regards, Joel

My name is Alison and my grandparents were Albert and Mary Wood, i have many photos of my grandad at the abbey and i would be happy to email them to you :-) My mother was Mary Lillian Wood and my father was Anthony(Tony) Farmer, do you remember them at all? I spent many, many summers in Battle staying with my Gran at Coronation gardens, playing in Grandads shed, which she left exactly as it was on the day he died.

I first visited Battle in 1947 as a 7 year old. our family were invited to stay with Reg and Maude Weston whom my Dad had met during his war service. Reg & Maude lived in Senlac Gardens and Reg worked at a Grocers Shop in the High Street called Allworks? We thought this was a wonderful wonderful place in contrast with the Industrial grimy Leeds of that era. Reg was terrific gardener and we feasted on Gooseberries Apples Pears Red/Black currents etc. Also spent hours in Battle Railway station collecting the numbers of the magnificent South Eastern Locos in Green and Gold Livery. This was the first of many happy happy visits to Battle and surrounding areas during the late forties till late 60s. I wonder if any one knew these lovely people and have any memories to share?
