As comforting as it is to have so much support on the web with MAGNUM and various support communities I belong to, it would be so much more of a comfort to actually get some kind of relief. Keep doing what you are doing....we will get the help we need soon, as long as we stick together....oh, and thank you.....Shelly

I have migrains since I was 25yrs old (1975) I thought
they would improve when I got older (my mothers did), but
so far, no. I have tried to many medications for them
right now I am on Depakote. which helps alot. I am a
RN and I understand when people say "I have a migraine"
They are debillitating and poorly understood by family
and friends.

I have suffered with migraines since I was 11 yrs old, I am now 31. More than half my life and have now started experiencing related problems. It is nice to see people banding together to spread the information to the public. Hopefully now we will no longer see people with standard headaches trying to use migraine as a clutch. It is also good to see as even health care professionals can be insensitive to our problem. I can remember while experiencing a particularilly bad migraine in the hospital with my mother at age 13, having a nurse try to tell us that I must be having an overdose of some type of street drug, most likely heroin. It is people like you that are spreading the word that has stopped others from having that type of stigma placed on them. Good job. The only advice i have is try to cut down on the amount you experience, sounds hard but I spent yrs identifying my triggers and staying miles away. It has been over 10 yrs since I had chocolate, don't miss it, the alternative is worse. Try to keep stress down too. Thanks again.

what kind of alternative therapies are there for migraines. I take Frova for attacks and topomax for prevention when they get bad (as they are right now)...i also watch my diet for triggers and try and reduce my stress. Are there any relationships to other medical problems...I have fibromyalgia, arthritis, and osteonecrosis which resulted in a hip replacement. I have to take meds for all that and i don't want more. The migraines went away for years, but now they are back and they are horrible. i'll be checking out your website to see if i can find some answers.

I came across your website by searching Migraines on the internet. I was diagnosed when I was 12 years old with migraines. Just recently I was diagnosed by a neurologist with Complex Migraines. My left pupil dilates during an episode. I am in search of help and relief from my migraines. I plan to research as much as I can. I know there are places on the internet that falsify their true meaning. I hope this web-site can help me.

I got my first migraine on 2-22-1997 at 33.I seriously thought it had to be an anneurysym or a tumor.I went to every kind of doctor had every test and tried every medicine recommended,In 4.5 years I tried 54 including one that killed 12 people. To date I've had some 70 plus meds,
I quickly learned that most doctors think you're seeking naroctics the minute you say "migraine" and I was blessed to find a doctor that saw me on the verge of death.
In the beginning I was happy to try anything.HRT,birth control pills,anti-depressants and all the other meds but I became so sick of all the bad side effects I wanted to quit, until another migraine came on.
My doctor decided that since the mepregan shot gave me relief once they hit why not try them as pre-emptive.I felt very groggy for the first two weeks but that passed.I couldn't adjust to the other strong narcotics even after 30 days and it has never been my desire to stay high.I have a family and life and do not consider nodding on the couch or being nauseous "living".
Mepergan gave me my life back and I had a life.
I see a different doctor now that wants me taking vicoprofen for my back disorders but it's becoming ineffective for my migraines.
I woke up Monday at 2 am and I knew I was headed for a bad one.
I had diahrea and vomiting. My skin was ice cold to the touch. My whole left side was paralyzed including no sight or hearing on the left.
I laid in a fetal position and whimpered until Thursady about 10 am.My husband was so afraid he wanted to carry me to the ER but it's the same old "drug seeker" assuming asses.
I know my next one is just days away and I feel like I'm chained in a dark, depressing basement trapped by an attacker that could return at any minute. It is fear of the greatest magnitude and I don't even dare trying the vicoprofen because I'll get scolded for exceeding my monthly supply.
My children were terrified to see me like that for so long and my husband is still convinced I had a stroke as my left side is weaker than the rest of me.
I am weak and feel bruised,my eyes are sunken and my skin is like paper.I've lost 9 pounds since this one began.
If I hear one more person say "I've had a really bad headache before" I feel like I'll strike someone.
It has affected the quality of my life and my family's life.
My pharmacist had to tell me not to take the Axert while I was alone so my oldest son stayed home with me.Still no relief just tremors that added to my agony.
I don't know where to turn but I cannot live like this.
A migraine is NOT a headache.

I have suffered with Migraines since 1987. They are caused by changes in the barometric pressure. As I live in Louisiana, they are frequent. I have always felt like I just have to deal with them. I am so glad to find this site and others like it. I will be locating a Neurologist to see what can be done to help relieve my migraines. Due to being a single parent, I have always had to just work through my migraines as best as possible. Many times I should have been at home instead of at work but was unable to leave due to money and responsibilities. I am glad to know that I am protected by the ADA and no longer have to "just work through the pain".
