Thank you for your exemplary data regarding the 3rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army, WWII. My Dad's first cousin, Quinto Cassavechia, mechanized infantry served with the division in the Battle of the Anzio Beachhead. I am interested to hear from veterans who knew him in the European Theater of War.

Merci Beaucoup

Fabulous website. My father-in-law served with the 3rd ID, 3rd Signal Company in WWII. Initially I was searching the web to find the should his military photo it is too faded to see...then I found all this other wonderful photo.

His family was so proud of him. He went on to become a university professor in Spanish lit, an auxiliary policeman, husband, father and grandfather. I only knew him for a few years before he died, but loved him and respected him immensely. RIP Douglas Hinkle.

Hello Sgt. Heller,

I commend you greatly on this website, thanks. I was actually looking for photos and info on Marlene Dietrich whom I greatly admire. My dad served as a combat infantryman with the 13th Armored Division (the Black Cats) in France, Germany and Austria. He received the Bronze medal, 2 battle stars on his ribbons, combat infantryman badge, helped liberate a POW camp similar to a concentration camp and has related plenty of what he experienced. My late grandfather told me privately how affected he was when he came back from California (he was preparing after VE day to be readied with the division for the invasion of Japan).

Nevertheless I salute you. My dad is still going strong, though much slower at age 88.

Best regards,
Glen Weisberg
