So many days have come and gone since you left us, and yet I miss you more than I can say.
The friendship we had still seems unbelievably remarkable to me and I treasure every moment we spent together - every moment (and there were a lot of them) we spent talking on the phone - every letter we wrote back and forth. Although you are gone, your influence continues to guide me - direct me - steer me in directions I would never have dreamed possible. You made me understand anything is possible.
For these and so many other reasons, I thank you - but most of all, I thank you for being YOU -- a truly remarkable man - a man who was bigger than life itself - and yet a man who was kind, gentle and fun to be around. I know you didn't understand that when you were on this earth - didn't know what a truly wonderful person you were -- didn't realize how much you influenced so many people - some of them for a lifetime. I hope in some way you have come to know these things - to know what an incredible

Today is a sad day for all fans of John Smith, the day the
world lost a gentle, gifted, very good man. And a testament
to all he was and all he did, is the fact that today,
thousands of people who never got the chance to meet him
in person, know and love and appreciate greatly John's
work and how much of himself and his own life he infused
into his own legacy on film.

To say this man is missed is a gross understatement. More
accurate to say he's honored and cherished, respected and
yes, loved, today, seventeen years on, and always will be.

Thanks, kind sir. Thanks very much for sharing the world
with us, even for such a short time. And thanks for sharing
your talent, your grace, your strength and your amazing
smile, just as a short list of the gifts you left us.

Another year has passed and we still cannot forget the great John Smith and all the roles he had. Especially our beloved Slim Sherman. It was such a shame to lose a wonderful and gracious man, as John was. But, as long as we hold him in our hearts then we can say that John will live on forever.

Laramie was one of my favorite westerns when I was growning up - I'm over 60 now and it's still near the top of my top 10 shows. And I still have a crush on Slim Sherman.
