Dear John and Madelyn,
I have been reading a great many books about the Donner Party, and being 70 years, highly educated, I was totally ignorant as to the tragedy of this historic event. While I have been through Donner Pass several times, I knew only a vague idea of what really happened.
I am no known way of any descendency that I would know of, or it would appear in the geneological records of my maternal side. I have had a great emotional response along with my intellectual enlightenment of this bit of American history.
I hope all is well with you and hope you have cause to celebrate the monumental achievement of your ancestors.

I also am a descendent of George Donner's early marriages - not sure which one, think it was Blue. I remember my great grandmother, Grace Donner Linn, speaking of Cumi's. Her daughter married a McClure, my maiden name. What a small world this is! Attended the 150th anniversary of the Donner Party in Nevada. Thanks for having this info on the web. I hope that someday my children will be interested in it and be able to locate it easily.
