Very nicely done! I will always remember that day, may the souls of those lost rest in eternal peace and thanks to those, including my brother Jim, who tended to the victims!

Just a kid then, there's not a day goes by when I don't think of Beirut, Lebanon. As a photojournalist aboard IWO JIMA, I was tasked with photographing and writing about 23 October '83. I grew up that day, seeing things I never, ever wanted to see, and hearing things that put the world into perspective. I have since served in Iraq, but Beirut will forever be foremost in my mind, my heart, and my soul. I'm a school teacher now, my weapon is a book. My students early on understand that this teacher has experiences that qualify him to teach about the world. I relay tales of men whom I respected: Arden W. Jones, Tim Geraghty, Commodore France, and SSGT Ortega, who spent an hour with me on the ride over to the "Root" showing me his guitar skills. It's a tale of patriotism I tell, one of men intent of bringing peace to a volatile area of the world. It's a tale of war amongst countries, and factions of people, and a tale of violence and peace within men. God bless you, those who sacrificed all, and carry on

Ed, I put a lot of work into the site, and I see it cosmetically disappointing.
Please contact me and let me square this away. My Marines deserve the best.

It been hard. I miss my buddies. I cry everytime I think about there loss. Us cooks, spent a lot of time together both in and out of the chow hall. I was good friends with a lot of the guys in 1/8 both when I was attached to ITS and as a cook in 3/8 after I transfered. I remember Langdon just bought him a little sportscar before he was deployed. He and Jakowski were always joking around with me. God bless them.
