I was aboard the USS Ponce - LPD-15. Don't remember exact dates but we there after the main pullout in 1984, I was a 1316 - welder - assigned to the Maintanence Platoon, I fabricated crash bumpers for the Embassy vehicles. I have not kept in contact with anybody from our unit but would like to hear from them.

Semper Fidelis. The pictures and stories bring back a flood of memories, some unwanted, as I too managed to find myself on the shores of Beirut as a 19 year old. I believe in what the stories tell and know in my heart that to survive as a nation, we must not only remember, but honor those who have fallen.

I was with the 32 MSSG 32 FSSG the first time I went. After I came out I was messed up in the worst way.
I'm proud of my service. and its good to see that we have a place to honor our fallen brothers. And now,,I have a place to visit to get some closure.
