In searching Calabria & Cosenza I found your wonderful website. It's really enjoyable to see the photos and you have many interesting stories. A number of your people resemble ours, just the last names are changed! We are trying to put our own together from Santa Caterina Albanese & Ioggi, and every answer we get brings up a new question! We have, like yours, cousins families who intermarried but too few written records to document from Italy. Good luck in your continued efforts. I'll check in again.

This is a very good site. My late father (Eduardo Davide Salerno) came to America in 1923, at the age of 14. Through conversations with him, and by accessing Ellis Island Archives, I am able to confirm that my grandfather, Bruno Salerno, made five trips to America, beginning in the early 1890's. He married my grandmother, Angela Marchese, in New York then moved back to San Sisto. Incedibly, on his last trip in 1920, he became a United States citizen, sensing the growing xenophobia in America against Italian immigrants. His actions made my dad's entry a lot easier. My dad's passport reads, "Son of an American citizen" Using the internet, it has been a lot easier to gather information about my Italian/American family.

GREAT SITE. I REMEMBER READING IT BEFORE AND I FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING. I WAS BORN IN SAN SISTO DEL VALDESI 1951 AND IMMIGRATED TO CANADA IN 1953. MY HUSBAND MARIO WAS BORN IN REGINA, LATTARICO IN 1946 MOVED TO GERMANY WHEN HE WAS 14 AND TO CANADA IN 1968. I FIND OUR HISTORY VERY INTERESTING AND I THINK IT IS IMPORTANT TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ABOUT OUR BIRTH COUNTRY. SEEING PEOPLES NAMES THAT I GREW UP HEARING AND LEARNING ABOUT OUR HISTORY IS ONE OF MY PASSIONS. I AM HOPING TO DEDICATE MORE TIME TO ARCHIVING INFORMATION IN ORDER TO COMPLETE MY PROJECT.

Gabriela
