Hello, All Saints Church Kempston. I and my two brothers Maurice and Peter and my Sister Pat stayed with Canon Barker and family We were evacuated in 1939 and stayed with the barker family, for a year or so.I'm wondering if any of the Barker Family are still there. We are all vey grateful for what they did for us and our parents, during the war. Yours truly Monica Crawley. Message Number: 33 - Tuesday, March 8, 2011 22:13:02 GB - United States ![]()
Hello, My name is Andrew Sterling Carter. I decend from the Carter family from Kempston and Bedford in Bedfordshire. I am constantly doing family research and I believe that my family were members of this church for many centuries. I have traced my line back to 1100 but I am not sure they were still in Kempston or not. I would like to know alot more about them while they resided in Kempston and Bedford and I figured my best bet was to find a church they attended and perhaps could find records, graves, or even the location where they lived. In general, I would like to know if you have any information on my family. If you do, please respond through my email. I am thrilled to know where they were and I am glad I found this church! If you should require my ancestors names, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks, Andrew Sterling Carter
Response Thank you for this entry. Please refer to earlier entries from Carter family seaching for similar information. We have put other Carter family members in touch with each other previously. Please advise if your email address can be forwarded. Message Number: 32 - Thursday, February 3, 2011 23:14:30 GB - United Kingdom ![]()
Like many others, I am researching my family tree. Through marriage I am related to the Lack family. The majority of Baptisms for the Lack family of Bedford/Kempston in the 1800 's were at All Saints Church, Kempston. Hence my curiosity to see the church website. My relatives lived in Leighton Buzzard for some years. Sadly neither are with us any longer so we don't visit the area. If we do, we will visit your church. Drucilla Hayward

Brought up in Kempston and lived there till leaving school. An ordained in the parish. I stood outside The Church of the Transfiguration when it was consecrated (a small lad). In the dim and distant past have officiated in both parishes. Fr Henry John and Fr T Lloyd-Jones were my particular friends. Are there any members of the Sanders, Martell, Monger, Dolling, Williams or Ford families still resident? All pillars of the church at one time. Michael
Response Thankyou for this interesting entry. Should any of the named people contact us we will of course put them in touch with you, apologies for the delay in processing your entry..

Hello, I have enjoyed your website! I wish I could visit in person. My husband's ancestor (William Carter 1549-1605) is buried in your church and supposedly has a plaque up on the wall, along with an x marked on the floor of the burial spot. Is there anyone who could photograph the plaque and also the marking on the floor and email it to me? What a thrill that would be. Thank you!
Response Thankyou for your entry we have had a lot of interest in Carter Family please do see previous entries from US..Bear with us and we shall look to attain the photos you request. Message Number: 28 - Wednesday, June 9, 2010 18:00:48 GB - United Kingdom ![]()
I would like to thank the very kind gentleman who explained how your beautiful church looked at the time of my ancestors - the Lambert Family - who worshipped here for generations. I felt the utmost peace and spiritual warmth of the church and also walked along Church Walk where my family would have also walked to their homes in 'Up End'.I spent a full week visiting the area and twice visited your church which is in the most beautiful setting I could ever have imagined. Thank you once again - I'm sorry I don't know the name of the gentleman in question but you made my journey so meaningful and memorable. Julie Bovil
