My dad, Sgt. Ralph Robert Raney served in the 746th. He passed away Oct28th and was buried with an honor guard in attendance at Blackwell,Texas. He was proud of his unit but didn't speak much about it. The unit photograph still hangs on the wall. He landed at Utah driving a half-track into an underwater shell hole and had to swim the rest of the way onto the beach. He spent the night at St. Mare Eglise. He was outside Thum, Germany when the half-track he was driving ran over a landmine. Needless to say he recovered in Paris before being shipped out. He missed getting some of the unit citations because of his injuries. He did get The Purple Heart and French Croix DeGuerre. He kept in touch with a few old Army buddies, but over the years they have faded away. If there's anyone out there who remembers him I would like to hear from you. Keep us in your prayers, we miss him. Ken Raney

My Great Uncle S/Sgt A. Bechard served in the 746th. He landed on Utah Beach and fought his way to Mutzenich Germany where on September 16, 1944, he was awarded the Silver Star for bravery in combat. On that same day he was badly wounded resulting in the loss of his leg. He returned home to lead a long life in western Kansas. He passed away in 1993.

Great site. My Grandfather, Floyd Knight, was part of the 746th and was killed in action on July 31st, 1944. My mother passed away this June and I've been going through some old letters and cards from my Grandfather and that sparked my interest in researching his time with the 746th. Thanks for taking the time to create this site!

I have had the very distinct honor to meet some of the remaining members of the 746th during their 2007 reunion at Little Rock. This gathering has been great. Your site is very informative as well. These guys are why we are free in America today. GOD BLESS each and every one of them! Thank you. Robin
