I graduated photo school in 1972, was assigned to the U.S.S. Independence CVA 62. I was hoping to find some old sea buddies. Let me know if you know anyone who was stationed on the "Indy" or went to photo school from May to Sept 1972. Message Number: 761 - Tuesday, July 22, 2008 17:25:14 EDT - [IP = 131.247.45.33]
PBS is still airing Carrier in a lot of markets. Usually at 10 p.m. ET on Wed. Check your listings if you missed some of it. Christian Garzone is an AN in the series, he became a rated MC. Here's a link to his YouTube channel: http://youtube.com/user/CGarzone He's a squared away sailor and a talented storyteller. You can also see the series and outtakes online at pbs.org Message Number: 760 - Saturday, July 19, 2008 09:19:30 EDT - [IP = 72.226.52.143]

Stretch, The PHC Frank your looking for is most probably Frank Divenuti. He was still in Gtmo when I got there as a romping stomping PHAN straight from "A" school in Feb. 64. ONE HELL OF A FINE MAN AND SUPERB CHIEF. Message Number: 758 - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 19:09:48 EDT - [IP = 72.26.3.132]

In this digital age, I have just gone "retro". In addition to several digital cameras that I own, I recently purchased a Kodak Medalist. It was made in 1944 (for the military), and came complete with the accessory ground glass back which accepts Medalist Film Pack Adapters and Medalist sheet film holders. Two film pack adapters, and eight sheet film holders were included. It is in beautiful condition and everything seems to work properly. The 100mm f/3.5 Ektar lens is in perfect condition and the rangefinder is accurate. It's a beauty. Message Number: 756 - Wednesday, July 16, 2008 09:04:13 EDT - [IP = 68.196.120.159]
Finally relocated and back online. Great to see former shipmates now using the site here. Glad to see Corrine Kelly, she is one of the best. Ken Hess probably has bubble rap for wall paper in his house. Once a bubble head always a bubble head. LOL Sorry to hear about Al Merridith. Fair winds and Following Seas shipmate. Shepp, you asked about shooting. Well I have been active kind of. Since retiring I have moved into Distance Learning that includes video-conferencing. So technically I have done alot of live production work. When running a large conference it is much like controlling a TV control console and sometimes even doing some directing. I got most of those skills from what I did with Mopic and TV as a UW/PH. I once built a remote TV studio using bubble packing for the walls. The lighting was no different than for TV and the switching not much different either. Message Number: 753 - Monday, July 14, 2008 01:41:28 EDT - [IP = 69.61.209.33]
Shep, I took ten years off from shooting except for family weddings. I have found digital and now I can't shoot enough. I won't do it for a living again. I now shoot just for me, mostly macro stuff and portraits of family and friends. Photoshop is the best computer program I ever used. I never want to see a darkroom again. |
