Richie, congratulations on your 50 years of service to the Avondale Fire Company and to the community. During my time there, I always had the utmost respect for you, both as an officer and a person. You and Linda have set a fine example that your sons have followed. Merry Christmas to the entire Testa family from beautiful downtown Elswhere Delaware!!

Thank you for being firefighters and keeping people safe. I applaud your service to your community. Thank you for all that you do. I’d like to let you know about some special Firefighters tribute pages on my website. I set them up to honor firefighters everywhere. If you get a chance, please check them out. Stay safe and have a great day.

I live in Florida now but spent about 7 of my best years in Avondale. I hope to return there as soon as work provides. My mother lived at 221 New Street and was very ill. Before she died in 2000 she had many episodes that resulted in your coming to her aid. All of you made her feel much more at ease with her fear and she mentioned it often. Every time you came around for donations, she was happy to give. She felt if she had it to give, you deserved what ever amount it would require to operate safetly. Her name was catherine Stuhl if any of you still remember her. The day of her funeral, I was proud to see many of you show up to pay respects. I'm sure that made her smile. In my five years as a manager at Domino's, I was always glad to donate lunch to our community heros. My wife even participated in getting donations for a new truck for you through Dominos. She was happy to do it. Shes in the picture with Bill Bowersox. Anyway, I just thought the every day heros around us don't hear how appreciated they are to

To the best of my knowledge, the 1949 Autocar was only painted red and white. It responded to the Kaolin Mushroom Farms fire in August, 1966, was sold to KMF on the spot and never returned to the station. Its replacement pumper, the 1966 International-Hahn, had just gone into service and also responded to the fire. The Autocar pumped all week while company personnel turned over the piles of smoldering hay. I lived in New Garden Township at the time.

The Autocar was stored outdoors at KMF for some years. I ran with Kennett and Media Fire Companies in the 1970s and 80s.
