Comments:
Commander Elida D. Medina was a nurse anesthetist on the Naval Ship USS Repose during the Vietnam War. She worked endless sleepless hours taking care of our wounded soldiers. When she returned to the states, she was stationed in Corpus Cristi, Texas and assigned to the Ward with our wounded soldiers from Vietnam. After retiring from the Navy, many years later she developed alzheimers. However, one day as I came into the house, she was sitting in front of the TV crying while watching the news on Iraq. I asked her "What is the matter Sis, why are you crying" "Sis, I have to get dress. I have to go take care of our wounded soldeirs. Please take me. My sister has since died but she was a wonderful person that never forgot her mission in taking care of her fellow soldiers, . . . . .
