I found this site recently while researching my father Eric Tunnicliffe's career. My father sadly passed away in July 2010, but served as an engineer during the construction of the runway on Gan during 1957-1959 and I suspect was one of the 5 Air Ministry engineers mentioned in Gordon Miles article describing the 1957 Gannites.
If anyone has recollections of working with my father I would love to hear from them.

Hi, I served on Gan from Oct62 to Aug 63. I was a presenter on the station Radio, covering the early morning show, the Top 20 on Sudays as well as the Letters and requests from Home. I also featured in the station christmas show (There is nothing like a Dame) Enjoyed my time there, would dearly love to revisit but funds won't stretch that far but will have fond memories, miss the incredable sunsets,I could see them every evening from my bunk window.I also remember the GAN EGG, whew! won't forget that taste as long as I live. Nice to chat, if anyone remembers me (Supply) I would love to hear from you. Cheers, Peter

Had discontinued the Guestbook some time ago due to smamming. Security is a great deal better these days so I'm giving the Guestbook another try. Look forward to hearing from ex-Gannites and others that may be interested in the golden days of the RAF's own 'Island in the Sun'
