Very informative site. After losing a cocker spaniel to IMHA I have been looking into this topic frequently. My vet argues there's no proof that vaccines are harmful and refused to titer my last dog, but instead I was scorned for being an internet junkie by the vet tech (who has had no formal training of any kind)If I ever have another dog I will limit the vaccines for sure!

One week ago my dog went to the vet to be rehydrated following tummy upset. Blood count fine and no evidence of blockage in tests done. Took him home with Rimadyl to help mobility. He was an 8yo English Mastiff who was getting a bit slow in the hind legs. No warning given to me of effects of Rimadyl. He took it for three days. He was up and walking with a bit of help from me to get going. He then showed symptoms of tarry, blood cot stools two days after finishing Rimadyl. He was was lethargic, became very weak and refused to eat. The vet prescribed two different medications to counterreact a possible ulcer from Rimadyl. He only got to have one dose, he died last night. I wonder now why he died. He was given the all clear of no blockage when he first stayed at the vets and he came home happy. NEVER, NEVER will a pet of mine be given Rimadyl. I cant be sure this drug killed my dog but he showed a lot of the symptoms of an adverse affect to this drug. R.I.P Sir Lancelot, you were part of the family and so much

The information I just finished reading has been enlightening. I am now aware and educated. I am also glad that great strides have been made in recent years. I JUST WISH WITH ALL MY HEART THAT I HAD KNOWN ABOUT ALL THIS BEFORE WE LOST JESSE.Therefore I will continue to campaign to make changes to educate the public, advise vets and doctors to educate themselves and their clients, and most of all to have givernment agencies continue to monitor pharmaceutical companies and their medications to make sure they are SAFE!!!!! BARB (IN MEMORY OF JESSE, A WONDERFUL GOLDEN RETRIEVER, WHO WE LOST MARCH OF 2008.)

Found your site today after my 2 year old golden retriever had a very bad reaction to his distemper vaccine this morning. He is finally sleeping and the swelling has started to subside - but it has been an exhausting day. I will report it to the drug company - and I will watch him for other potential side effects. I was relieved to hear my vet say that Rufus will not be receiving any more vaccines and the vet will write a letter to waive his rabies vaccination (yeah, it was that bad). It is going to be a long night as we continue to monitor him - but I think the worse is over. I book marked your site and will do some more reading - especially on the flea preventatives. I have not used them in years because it always seemed to bother my other dogs or make them lethargic - I just didn't have a good feeling about the stuff. I am also concerned about the heartworm preventatives - I have Rufus tested for heartworm yearly but again, have some concerns that just haven't been answered to my satisfaction. Than
