I have been watching Oliver for about 3 years.  I have an african grey named Alex.  THought he was a male until 6 months ago he/she laid an egg.  And he is about 13 yrs old and this is the first time he has done anything like that.   I still consider him a "good boy" with an "old soul".  Good thing he was named a name that is used for male or female.  I also have a double yellow headed amazon whom Alex named Lola.  She is 9 yrs. old.  And then I have an alexandrian parrokeet named Cheyenne.  I have to tell you I never would have thought to have a bird as a pet, all three of these birds were dumped on me by 2 different owners, and now I can't imagine my life without them.  I have tried teaching Alex some of Olivers phrases, but alas, he does his own thing when it comes to talking and imitating sounds. 

I knew nothing of caring for birds, but have learned so much since aquiring them 4 yrs. ago.  I subscribe to bird talk magazine, got the book Parrots for Dummies, and looked on the internet for anything and everything about african greys and amazons.  What do you feed Oliver?  My birds have seed and pellets, and they get "hot supper" every evening that I make myself consisting of beans, rice, pasta, red pepper flakes or a halapenia pepper or 2, sometimes barley or other grains.  I make a big pot and freeze it in small plastic baggies.  I used to buy commercial cooked brands, but then decided to make my own since I love to cook. And of course Alex gets liquid calcium in his water 3 times a week.   he loves table food of almost any kind, as long as you are eating it, so will he.
