I live in Louisiana. Not many liberals around. I am Catholic and I stopped going to church a couple of years ago. I can't even stand how people talk about President Obama at work. They hate blacks, gays and women. I want to go back to church, but I think I will need to go to a church in the poorer part of town.

I admire and agree with and appreciate your site and am a liberal Christian and just wrote to ask about publishing a book through your site.

As a non-American who grew up in the Deep South, I am horrified by much of what the right-wing claim to be representative of Jesus' will. To quote from your "hate mail" page: "Why is it that Christians are mostly Republican?" Why, indeed? Where does the Republican viewpoint emphasise feeding the poor, supporting the widows/orphans, visiting the sick/imprisoned, defending the downtrodden?

Jesus was indeed a liberal - that doesn't mean he promoted sin-without-consequence as conservatives seem to think you're claiming!

I don't know if your website is still current, but I support what you're doing, especially now that Obama is being so insanely vilified by those "Jesus loves you as long as you look like us, believe like us, judge like us" hypocrites.

i am a progressive christian, bishop spongs follower, just wondering what is your view about how the universe was created big bang theory etc and the hawkins theory about space and time if gthere was no time or space before the universe was ever created where was god when he created the universe,where was he standind sitting etc etc.

I`m a devout Christian and I truly believe that Jesus was very liberal on social matters, and welfare issues etc. The so called right wing Christians are far out and promote anti Christian ideas and values on many issues. Look at Capitalism, it`s clearly anti Christian. Look at the healthcare system, based on how much cash you got. That`s anti Christian. This list goes on...
