Anthony,How come the African American desire for straight hair is designated 'in other words Eurocentric hair'? (Asians have straight hair too)..i have Yellow euro hair natural...it is basically straight and wavy...now none of these comments are meant to be hostile...but some of my Black friends put 'pressure' on me to let it grow and let it down and flow!!!! because they like it..the hair thing world wide is crazy..look at Oprah with her expensive straighten hair 'dictating' that those African girls will wear braided hair to aviod ...well Op let your own go natural or buzz it ...i t is confusing...all the world hisotry of haiir is wild isn't it ...i had a black friend say they envy straight hair (outside the racist aspect) ...let's all shave the head, have a good one! ginny

I understand the importance of heritage pride, I understand the suffering that we as African American have endured, I have studied the greatness of African and African American people. I also know that we have the shown great love and compassion thru the most difficult times. We must not let the merit we have ac@!#%&ulated thru this compassion be extinguished by creating a sense of separation of self and others. My teacher explained to me the law of Karma Cause and Effect when I expressed the suffering of African American people. There is a reason why we all find ourselves it the life that we carry, why we have the relationships that we have. We must all work to generate Love kindness and Compassion in our hearts so that we may work on relief the suffering of all sentient beings!
I would humble suggest that you separate your teachings on African and African American history and the Teaching of the Buddha onto 2 separate website so you will not create confusion.

“From the beginning you beings are deluded, because you do not recognize the Awareness of the Ground, Being thus unmindful of what occurs is delusion- The very state of unawareness and the cause of going astray. From this delusive state come a sudden fainting away, And the then a subtle consciousness of wavering fear. From that wavering there arises a separation of self and the perception of other as enemies. Gradually the tendency of separation strengthens and from this the circle of samsara begins. Then the emotions of the five poisons develop. The action of these emotions are endless.”
These complete sutra and prayers can be found on the internet by Googling Heart Sutra and Kuntuzanpo Pray. Also important reading can be found by Googling 37 Practices of Bodhisattva. Which is contains the complete teaching of the Buddha.

I am a Buddhist practitioner of proud African American heritages, I am not a great scholar and I have not studied your particular lineage of Buddhism however I feel that your website creates and sense of grasping and fixation to worldly phenomenon. I have been taught this grasping will greatly obscure the true nature of mind and is contrary to the Buddha’s teaching.

In the Heart Sutra the Shakamani Buddha indicated that:
All things are empty:
Nothing is born, nothing dies,
nothing is pure, nothing is stained,
nothing increases and nothing decreases.
